Yeah, it's better to just trust in the online resources that you have because the prima guides are always limited in info. Once you have updates, your guides become useless.

I'm pretty sure I read the same thing.
Anyways, its nice to have the guide so I don't have to play in window mode 100% of the time and switch to the forums every three seconds to look something up. I also enjoy books in general, and the strategy guide can actually be a nice read when going on long trips, trying to think of new builds (whether the skills are still correct or not, it still gets the general build across) I also use it to plan out my next character, like oh yeah this skill looks nice, flip the page, ooooo that skill looks better, I guess I'll be going for an Illusion Mesmer then.
The guide wasn't that bad, and I plan on buying this one too.

If's like anything like the guide for the first one - it will be virtually useless even before it hits the shelves. The first guide was so riddled with plain old errors and outdated information it certainly wasn't worth the $20 price tag.
Better and more relevant information, including more detailed maps, can be had from the many dozens of GW fansites on the web.

Or you could just print the stuff on forums out and get the same effect. Why buy a book that will be obselete within one month of game play?

Again (as Vilaptca stated), simply some people enjoy books in general, and the strategy guide can actually be a nice read when going on long trips, trying to think of new builds...I am the same way.
I like the guide for the visuals+info. I am not "online" all the time when I want to do something GW related, and when I play GW I never like to alt+tab. so im fine with the book.
So, it's really a personal choice.

The so little amount of obsolete information in the book isn't enough for me to bother buying a printer.
And like I already said, I like to have the book, and I listed my reasons, did you not read my post?

Use the printer attached to your computer. Now your dilema is over and you spent pennies on ink and paper by comparison.

What's the point when you can get all the info free from fansites? Save your money and buy pre order keys.

/thank you.

Well if everyone is mentioning the same info over and over again maybe it's something worth listening to.

It is common knowledge already that you can make your own "guides" to all existing games w/ the free info online.
Thread is not about that.
(some ppl want to turn it into "errors of ch.1 guide" or poll: "Who here doesnt want the guide, bcuz we have the forums".)
I already know the past threads about these, I dont really want to dig those up and bump those bcuz im interested for new info.
(weird though, there is a rise of old thread bumpages here @ gurus...)
/thank you.
Added: I do enjoy suggestions/comments, post whatever you like ofcourse, but again, plz keep in mind that the thread is not about "convincing" players to get or not to get the guide. We all know the answers.
Added: thankz for the update Gaile.
Added: I didnt make "old or bad arguments". There wasnt any arguments til ppl started "ignoring previous responses and the point of the thread before posting"...

There will be a strategy guide for Guild Wars, and this time, we're writing it ourselves. We'll have a company publish the book, of course, but the authors will be on the Guild Wars team this time, rather than external writers. There are more than 20 people involved in the production of the guide, those most on a part-time basis, of course.
We'll be sure to provide a publication or shelf date when one is available.

Thanks for the info Gaile, and a much relieved sigh I heave. The second guide may be well worth getting in that case - I just hope the game will be worth it as well!!
